Shri Chintamani Parswanath Jinalay, Dada Ni seri, Mandvi Kutch Jirnoddhar project:

Shri Chintamani Parswanath temple at Dada Ni deri was built before almost 130 years. It has beautiful carving inside and outside with sculptures of dev, devi and elephants, lions and peacock.

The temple is situated at the outskirts of Mandvi town. However, it is just opposite to JRD Shah’s native home.

The temple was not repaired for many years and hence many sculptures were broken and the temple needed urgent repair and renovations.

JRD Shah and his wife Shilpa Shah thought of doing jirnoddhar of the temple. JRD talked to his mother Dhanvantiben about this, and she was very happy at this noble thought because Jirnoddhar is the best noble deed as per Jain religion. But she said that we belong to Tapgatch sect of Jains while the temple belongs to Khartargatchh sect of Jains and they may not accept the request. So she suggested to talk to the President of Khartargatchh and take his permission.

The President of Khartargatchh was Mr Rajubhai I Shah, whom JRD had met couple of times.

JRD called him and conveyed his wish to do Jirnoddhar of Parswanath temple and Rajubhai happily agreed to the proposal and assured his full support in the Jirnoddhar work.

JRD conveyed about this good deed to his elder brother Dr Nareshbhai Shah, who lived in USA and he decided to join in the Jirnoddhar work and so both brothers joined in to do the good deed.

The work started in the year 2004. It took almost 6 to 8 months to remove carefully the layers of colours from the sculptures. After that each sculpture was repaired and brought to the old glory. It took another 6 months.

Then the colour work was started. While colouring the walls and different sculptures, JRD and Rajubhai suggested that the gold and silver colours be prepared by putting in real gold and silver powder. So painter Narendrabhai used real gold and silver powder while painting different drawings and sculptures of the temple.

All throughout the repair and renovation work , JRD and Shilpa Shah visited Mandvi almost every month to oversee the work and Rajubhai I Shah put in his heart and soul in the work by visiting the temple almost every day.

JRD suggested to paint different Tirth Pat on the inside wall of the temple and a well known painter Bhagwanjibhai was given the work of preparing 12 tirth pat of famous Jain pilgrimage places of India. This added to glory of the temple.

The Jirnoddhar work was completed in 2 years in the year 2006.The temple was restored to its old glory and looked beautiful and stunning.

The completion work was celebrated by a Pooja function and Swamivatsalya (lunch) function for entire Jain community of Mandvi Kutch by JRD Shah and Dr Nareshbhai Shah.

JRD Shah And Shilpa Shah were falicitated by Trustees of Shri Khartargatchh Jain Sangh, Mandvi at a public function.
